The Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association is a nonprofit
organization responsible for promoting the breeding and racing of thoroughbreds
in Iowa. The ITBOA currently represents nearly 500 Iowa-bred owners and breeders
and is active in a variety of thoroughbred-related programs.

- Works to enrich the purse and stakes schedules for Iowa Bred horses.
- Recognizes outstanding Iowa horses, owners, and breeders at it's annual banquet.
- Developed the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeder's Fund which pays Breeders' Awards, Stallion Awards, Purse Supplements on Iowa Bred races and Owners' Supplements on open races won by certified Iowa Breds.
- Offers two thoroughbred sales for the benefit of prospective buyers and sellers.
- Provides information concerning the Iowa Bred program and how to own a racehorse for prospective owners.
